Castro Valley Performing Arts Tuition Policies:

For first-time students, the first week of class is free. This “free” week gives the student an opportunity to try various classes in order to find the “best fit” for them. After that, there are two ways to pay tuition – “by the month” or “by the class”. Based on a 4-week month, paying “by the month” one class per week for 4 weeks is $45 – this is a huge savings compared to the “by the class” rate. If you opt to pay “by the class”, it is $15.00 per single class and it must be paid at the time the class is taken. We will not accept payment for a single class at the single class rate after the class is taken – it must be handed to the teacher at the beginning of the class time and the teacher must note it in the roll book at that time. We discourage students from taking classes on a drop-in or “by the class” basis as it is disruptive to the progress of the entire class. New information is presented in each class and students who miss class force the teacher to reteach what was taught before thus slowing down the progress of those students who attend class on a regular basis. Students need consistent training and practice to learn, and missing classes will delay her/his dance education. As some absences are unavoidable, the student is welcome to take another class within the same month to makeup missed classes. The teacher can suggest another appropriate class to take. Make-ups for missed classes cannot be carried from one month to the next – they must be taken within the same month as the class was missed.

First-time students registering mid-month who wish to pay the "by the month" rate will be able to pro-rate for the first month --meaning that if you register on the 3rd week of the month, you will be able to pro-rate the monthly fee to $11.25 per class for the remainder of that first month. This will only be allowed for students registering for their first month of dance…and will not be allowed in any month after that.

The April, July and December vacation periods in which the studio is closed are not counted as weeks that you pay for classes. The tuition is based on 4 weeks of classes per month X 12 months for 48 weeks of classes and 4 weeks of vacations. The weeks that the studio is closed are not included in the tuition that you pay but are the 4 extra weeks per year. If you were charged for those 4 weeks, you would be paying for 13 months of tuition instead of 12.
